Happy New Year!!!!

This is it!  A new year.  Another shot at getting it right.  What does that look like?  Why that's simple.  It's keeping a long list of resolutions, things we've never been able to do, but that we are convinced if we could do them, everything would be perfect.

The whole new year, new start thing looks pretty stupid when you look at it that way.  The reason it looks pretty stupid is because it is pretty stupid, and even worse, it's totally limiting.

That New Year logic means you only have one chance every 365 days to get it right, and, you already know it isn't going to work.  It's like betting on a horse that always passes out in the starting gate.

The total stupidity of it will become strikingly evident the moment you realize that every moment of every day is a new beginning.  All you have to do is step into it, become one with it, and leave all of the limitations you created in your mind behind.  And, if you blow one moment, you stand up, brush yourself off, and you grab the next one - by the way, that is this one.

So, here's the last resolution you will ever need.

"I live this moment totally, without hold-back, or preconceived notions.  In this moment, I know what to do, and I do it, without hesitation or reservation."

Happy New Moment - Every One of Them.

Tomorrow I’ll post #19 in the Norman Rockwell inspired blog series.

I call it The Shadow of Greatness and illustrated it with this Norman Rockwell painting:

    1. Thanks Jo,
It's a bit foggy tonight. I have to stand on my tiptoes to see your bonfire - but I just did that and I can still see it. That means everything is perfect.
      You have now, you hear?

  2. This is such a wonderful reminder that we are only promised this moment, this instance in time and that we must live each and every one of those moments to the fullest extent possible, never holding anything back or hesitating. Another wonderful post Bert!

  4. I've taken so many shots at getting it right that I've burned up two pistols and a 1920 .22 rifle. Haven't hit the target yet, but I'm loaded up for another year.

    1. Caleb,
Your comment reminds me of an old joke about a woman who prayed every week, "God, I want to win the lottery." Over and over she prayed the same prayer. Years passed, nothing changed, then one morning, in the middle of her prayers, she was startled when God's voice rang out, "Help me out here, Heather. Buy a ticket." Locking and loading are the first essential steps to hitting the target, which you will do in 2013.

  5. I agree, every day is a new new chance. I do like the idea of NYRs if they're treated as goals with a plan.
